We started Furbnow in 2022 because the retrofit industry doesn’t work for homeowners. Installers quote for what they sell, the advice conflicts, and people are left needing a degree in building physics just to make good decisions about their own home. So they stall.
Becky saw this from both sides. She ran the first Net Zero Neighbourhood programme at the West Midlands Combined Authority. She also got stuck on her own Edwardian home: even working in energy, she couldn’t work out the right way to insulate it. Laurence brings his expertise in building products to solve real climate problems, as Head of Technology at Subak before joining Furbnow. Together we set out to build what was missing: an independent, qualified team that sits on the homeowner’s side of the table, with the technology underpinning that to make it slick and affordable to do so.
Our goal is to decarbonise 100,000 homes by 2030, by giving homeowners what they actually want: homes that are comfortable all year round and don’t cost a fortune to run. We’re looking for people who don’t want to do things the way they’ve always been done, and who care about getting real homes right. If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you.
